Netflix’s supernatural drama starring Winona Ryder gets new title

Saturday, Aug 22, 2015

Back in June, it was announced Winona would star in a Netflix supernatural limited series. The drama described as “a love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation,” has finalized a title and its cast. Now being called Stranger Things (after going under the working title Montauk), the show has now been outfitted with a cast of youngsters who will act as the series’ primary protagonists, Deadline is informing.

Stranger Things is set in 1980 Indiana, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton have all joined the show, which was created by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines) and will be executive produced by Shawn Levy (REAL STEEL). The eight-episode series will debut in 2016.

Winona Ryder for Marc Jacobs

Saturday, Jul 4, 2015

As previously announced, Winona is (one of) the face of Marc Jacobs fall campaign. Jacobs unveiled the two campaign photos on his personal Instagram account on Sunday. “Winona and I have been friends for over 15 years. She first appeared in our campaign in 2003,” he captioned one picture, describing why he chose the actress. About the second picture, he said that he loved Ryder’s wit, energy and said she was a great friend — in addition to being immensely talented.

Ryder first campaigned for the brand when she modeled the Spring/Summer 2003 collection. You can find the HQ images added in our gallery.
