Winona teams up with Tim Burton for a new project!

Tuesday, Sep 21, 2010

The day is here, fellows. Deadline is reporting that Winona will be joining Martin Landau, Catherine O’Hara and Martin Short for the Disney feature “Frankenweenie.”

According to Deadline, Winona Ryder and Martin Landau have each taken a key role, while Martin Short and Catherine O’Hara will each be providing five different supporting voices.

Landau’s role is that of Mr. Rzykruski; Short will be playing Bob, Nassor, Toshiaki, Victor’s Dad and Mr. Bergermeister; O’Hara is down for Edgar, Weird Girl, Victor’s Mom, and Gym Teacher; Ryder’s been given the part of Elsa, a love interest for Victor. Victor has not yet been announced, yet.

John August wrote the script for the project, which is based on Burton’s 1984 live-action short film about a man who reanimates his dog after it gets hit by a car.

Disney is scheduled to release “Frankenweenie” on March 9, 2012.

  1. YEY!!!! I’ve been waiting for another Burton/Ryder team-up. How much do you guys wanna bet Johnny Depp will be Victor? I mean, I want him to be.

  2. YES!!! I was hoping that when Tim Burton met up with Winona at the ‘Scream Awards’ a year ago, that he would find a project for her. It looks like Winona is truely back! 😀

  3. i hope she will appear in a real film by burton again. beside johnny depp. cause only her voice in a movie…that`s complicated in cinemas here in germany, because we snychronise movies. what means that we can`t listen to winonas voice.

  4. Well, hells bells! I was wondering when the hell this would happen. As for Victor being played by Depp, well that sounds like a no-brainer, but being that the two have never worked together since Edward Scissorhands and that nasty break-up afterward, I would have to say it seems a bit unlikely. (it would be AWESOME though, wouldn’t it? I can already see the tabloids 👿 ) Either way, this news is great! My heart has always belonged to Winona and it would be great to see her teaming up with Tim Burton again. I always thought he should remake his short film into a full feature. I hope he shoots it in glorious black and white. Winona will look beautiful, I’m sure. BTW wasn’t she just awesome in that episode of Strangers With Candy?

  5. Oh, I Just noticed it’s going to be stop-motion animation and these are just voice-over parts. I guess the Depp/Winona thing will be no biggie, they probably won’t even see each other. Happy still that she’s working with Tim, but no onscreen Winona? 🙁
