Winona on “Stranger Things” Set in Indiana

Winona Ryder got back into character on the set of the upcoming Netflix series Stranger Things this week. She was pictured wearing an auburn wig as cameras rolled in a wooded setting in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday.

The eight-episode series will follow the actress as Joyce, as a working-class single mother whose young son disappears in 1980s Indiana. The show – which will debut on the streaming service on July 15 – was created by twin brothers Matt & Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines).

Netflix Sets Premieres for “Stranger Things”

Last Monday (18) Netflix took part on TCA’16 Panel and unveiled some release dates for new original series, including Stranger Things. The eight-part thriller / mystery miniseries starring Winona Ryder will debuts on July 15.

Overview: A love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a? ?generation, Stranger Things is set in 1983 Indiana, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Winona Ryder stars with David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton and Matthew Modine. Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer are writing, directing and showrunning the series, and will serve as exec producers with Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen.

‘Stranger Things’ To Be Shot in Atlanta

The Atlanta Journal Constitution is reporting that Stranger Things is going to be shot in Atlanta, with production scheduled to start this fall.

Winona yet its the big name attached to the project, which is set in the 1980s and is about a mystery surrounding a boy who vanishes into thin air and the ever-expanding government conspiracy that unravels in its wake.

The mini-series will have 8 episodes, and Netflix will air it in 2016.

Back in June, it was announced Winona would star in a Netflix supernatural limited series. The drama described as “a love letter to the ’80s classics that captivated a generation,” has finalized a title and its cast. Now being called Stranger Things (after going under the working title Montauk), the show has now been outfitted with a cast of youngsters who will act as the series’ primary protagonists, Deadline is informing.

Stranger Things is set in 1980 Indiana, where a young boy vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.

Finn Wolfhard, Millie Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton have all joined the show, which was created by Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer (Wayward Pines) and will be executive produced by Shawn Levy (REAL STEEL). The eight-episode series will debut in 2016.
