WINONA Ryder believes actors are nauseating – particularly when they complain about their pampered lives.

“We’re sickeningly well-paid people who have charmed lives. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have problems,” says Ryder, the star of films as diverse as Alien: Resurrection, Heathers, Edward Scissorhands and the upcoming Sex And Death 101 opposite Australian actors Simon Baker and Sophie Monk.

Ryder, 35, has a point. It could even be argued that since she was convicted for shoplifting from a Beverly Hills department store in 2001, the problems have overshadowed the acting. Continue reading Winona finally grows up

Just made a new layout to the gallery, with the wonderful Brian Bowen Smith portrait, which was totally new to me. Thanks to WRNC for the heads up.

A little update: For now, comments are disabled on the gallery. It was full os fucking spammers, the captcha script wasn’ working, so unfortunally you can’t leave comments there, but you can leave comments here.

UPDATE: I have fixed some weird bug in the gallery, now all pictures are enlarging again. Thanks Henry and Yoshi for letting me know.

Winona Ryder is Amanda Grayson

Friday, Nov 9, 2007

Last week TrekMovie.com revealed that Spock’s parents will be appearing in the new Star Trek movie. And now Variety is reporting that Winona Ryder has landed the part of Spock’s human mother Amanda Grayson, a role originally played by the late Jane Wyatt. The Oscar-nominated veteran of dozens of films may be the best known member of the Star Trek cast so far. At 36, Ryder is only six years older than Zachary Quinto who plays Spock. It is possible that Ryder (and perhaps the actor playing Spock’s father Sarek) will be seen in some sort of flashback to Spock’s childhood or adolescence.

Actress to play Spock’s mother in Abrams film

“Star Trek” is beaming up Winona Ryder.

Paramount Pictures and director JJ Abrams have set Ryder to play the Vulcan mother of a young Spock (Zachary Quinto).

Scripted by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the film revolves around the Starfleet Academy days of the crew of the Starship Enterprise. Chris Pine has been set to play Capt. Kirk, Simon Pegg will play Scotty, Karl Urban is Dr. McCoy and Eric Bana will play the villain, Nero.

Ryder recently wrapped “The Informers,” a Gregor Jordan-directed adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel, and the Geoffrey Haley-directed “The Last Word.”

She is in pre-production on the Rebecca Miller-directed “Private Lives of Pippa Lee.”
